Planting Photography 2017
We spent a couple days back at the farm early this spring. I was all ready for some good ole family time, for mealtimes that fill the belly and the heart. When we're all home, we pull up the office chairs for extra seating ('cause we fancy like that), gather around the table, and grab the food we want before my brother Christian gets to it.???? While we're filling our bellies, the air is filled with one-liners, laughter and good stories. Then, we move approximately 15 feet away to the coach (love that little farmhouse) and continue our conversations and toss around our next big ideas, while the boys occasionally interrupt to:
- Be the source of "reality" on why our dreams may not work. "No, you can't knock out that load-bearing wall!"
- Share what they've just learned on Agtalk.
- Jokingly suggest one of us buy a good deal they found on Craigslist.
- Share a video dad found funny on mom's Facebook feed, because heaven forbid he get his own.
- Or, our favorite, to provide some simple wisdom to a situation we've overanalyzed to the max.
So now you know why I love my home.
Anyway, I got none of that this last trip home and felt pretty neglected. (Hence my 2-paragraph reminiscing about how things usually are.) But the big rains were a-comin' and there were crops to put in the ground. So I was chief meal-deliverer, person-runner-arounder, and as always, photographer.Turns out, those rains did come and kept them out of the field for almost 2 weeks. As of this writing, we're not sure if #replant17 will be a real thing on our farm. Until then, let's look at some of the prettier days:
